The Pilgrimage
Concept Art

This is the concept art for the film - you will see many ideas, locations and art styles that didn't make the final cut for one reason or another.
This was the first idea for the pilgrimage site - it was heavily based on a rainy, British holiday, where you arrive at a site that didn't appear to be updated in decades and seems incredibly random and sketchy.
The holy site was a well within a hut - I liked the mundanity of this but it provided limited opportunities for the characters to act in.
Pro's:
Funny - underwhelming and mundane
very British
loved the gift shop and bouncer
Con's:
not medieval enough
not much to actually do there - character and comedy wise
This is the concept art for my second idea. This idea continued the hut theme but placed the mundane hut in the centre of a medieval castle-esk building- this dealt with the issues of not being medieval enough. The hut was now a nun cell - rendering the journey useless for nuns who live in similar cells and added comedy through a tour guide who would tell his group about the bleakness of these cells.
Pro's:
medieval x modern
gift shop merch
nun pass
tour guide and moody employee
Con's:
lack of situations
requires set up and explanation

These are the character designs for my film. Some characters didn't the final cut and many had their roles changed an edited throughout the development of the film.
The Nuns: (left to right)
Sister Claire - A Lesbian nun - soft on the outside, hard within
Sister Deirdre - A smoker - cool and edgy ther for the vibes
Sister Aelfgifu - A smoker - the most mish
Mother Superior - tired of this shit
Sister Baldwin - A Lesbian nun who's a fan of the high life
Sister Scholastica - a drinker
mood board for characters

Sketchbook work exploring different locations and characters and analysing their effects on the audience.

I.am.ERP
Herbologist - initially he was meant to be a drug dealer and a more prominent character but later got reduced to a background character - covered in an ermine robe hiding his drugs
Tour Guide - Another character initially with a larger role which was reduced - a cross of a modern tour guide with a medieval nobleman

I.am.ERP
Rat Nun - Initially a nun was meant to be turned into a rat and hung - this character was axed

Medieval Tourists - initially meant for the pilgrimage spot, they developed into background characters. They are tourist stereotypes mixed with medieval designs.

The Sheriff - colour charts and character designs, this character was meant to hang the rat but was changed to suit a new purpose

Moody Employee - she most my personal favourite character - initially a begrudging seller of overpriced pilgrimage spot tickets - to keep consistancy in story pace and to get rid of dialogue from the film she was axed - now she's simply a background character

I.am.ERP
Angry Witch - another key character turned background figure - initially she turned a nun into a rat
